Rules for agents

What to ask a traveler before paying, what an agent can rely on, and what to keep in Wigoo links.

These rules are for assistants, and for the developers who build them. Everything here is something Wigoo does today.

Ask the person first

An installed eSIM cannot be reused and may no longer be refundable, so a good agent asks before it pays.

AskWhy
Does the phone take an eSIM?Most iPhones from the XS on and recent Pixel and Galaxy phones do. An eSIM cannot go on a phone without one.
Is it unlocked?A phone locked to a carrier refuses eSIMs from anyone else.
One country or several?A regional plan covers a whole trip on one eSIM.
How much data?Maps and messages need little, video and hotspot a lot.
Fixed data or unlimited?Unlimited day passes suit heavy use. Fixed plans are cheaper for light use.
Calls and WhatsApp?The eSIM is data only. The usual number stays on for calls, and WhatsApp works over data.

What an agent can rely on

  • The price is calculated by Wigoo's server at checkout. A quote is a list price.
  • The eSIM is data only. The traveler keeps their number for calls and texts, and needs an eSIM-compatible, unlocked phone.
  • Validity starts when the eSIM first connects at the destination, so it can be installed days before the trip. More data later is a top up on the same eSIM, not a new one.
  • There is no CAPTCHA and no bot challenge on the guest checkout. A rate limit per IP address protects it.
  • Signed agents are welcome. Agents that sign their requests with Web Bot Auth are recognized and counted separately, not blocked.
  • Plans and prices change. Quote again instead of remembering a number from yesterday.

What to keep

  • Hand over buy_url unchanged. It opens the right plan. See the plan link.
  • Keep utm_source=mcp in it. It is how Wigoo sees that assistants bring customers. The link works without it.
  • Use the tools instead of guessing. Plan ids, durations and networks are in the responses, and get_quote knows how to build a link that opens the right plan.

What to avoid

  • Do not charge, confirm or "reserve" anything on the traveler's behalf without asking. Paying is their decision.
  • Do not promise an amount: say "about" and give the formatted price from the quote.
  • Do not tell a traveler an eSIM works on a phone you have not checked.
